Since their formation in 2012, Darcy Malone and The Tangle has established its reputation as one of New Orleans’ upcoming live acts known for regularly playing the city’s legendary venues such as Tipitina’s as well as New Orleans Jazz Fest and French Quarter Fest. The band’s music has been described as a bigger than life sound, which incorporates elements of Phil Spector’s wall of sound, indie rock while drawing on the traditional funk/rhythm & blues of their home city, New Orleans. Front woman Darcy Malone is daughter of Dave Malone of the legendary Southern rock band, The Radiators. Her powerful vocal performances have been compared to the likes of sixties’ soul legends Ronnie Spector and Darlene Love.
Last year, the band released their debut album “Still Life,” which was produced by Rick Nelson (The Afghan Whigs). The album received critical acclaim from the regional music press. Since then, the band continues to receive rave reviews for their electrifying live performances in Louisiana and beyond. They have played alongside New Orleans greats including George Porter Jr, Leo Nocentelli, The Radiators, Bonerama, Honey Island Swamp Band and Raw Oyster Cult to name a few. This year also sees the release of a new EP later in the spring.
