Residing in Brazil, the International singer songwriter, Jennifer Licko, was recently awarded with ‘Celtic Album of the Year’ by Celtic Music Radio for her latest release “A Thousand Curses Upon Love’. Now she is releasing her next award winning album (SING) with producer, arranger and guitarist Patsy O’Brien. Although she specializes in Scots Gaelic dance and work songs, this Carolina native writes music that has been influenced by her bluegrass and celtic roots. As stated by Celtic Life Magazine,
“Jennifer Licko could very well be the heir-apparent to Canada’s Loreena McKennitt and Clannad’s Maire Brennan”.
After years of living in Ireland, Scotland and now Brazil, the one place Jennifer feels most at home is on stage and the Boston Irish Reporter reminds us that “Jennifer Licko certainly has a voice made for the concert hall”.
Those familiar with Cathie Ryan, Eileen Ivers or piping legend Paddy Keenan will also be familiar with their accompanist; the Irish Guitar wiz Patsy O’Brien. His latest album exhibits his lyrically strong and melodically catchy song writing along side of his Irish traditional tunes on guitar. It’s a brilliant capture of the Cork born artist who even illustrated his own album cover. O’Brien’s songs have been featured many times on NPR’s “All Things Considered” and has been awarded by the American Folk Alliance for his songwriting. Patsy’s guitar playing moves from driving rhythm to delicate and melodic finger picking. Of the range of emotion he draws from the guitar, The New Haven Advocate writes, “His music is stomping and ocean breezy – sure footed and fragile …”
“Ireland’s best kept musical secret - CHECK HIM OUT!”
